Our Story

We are a team of three women, two of us from the Pantanal region, who are based in the UK.

The idea to start Susauce came during the first lockdown. In unsteady times and unable to leave the house, we wanted to bring some vibrancy into our kitchens.

The chili and garlic sauce in the supermarkets just felt so manufactured.

We talked to each other about how you should be able to buy sauces that taste like they were made by real people, sauces that taste like they come from a real place with real flavours. So, we made some.

Original Recipe from Pantanal

The flavors in our Garlic Paste and Pequi Chilli Sauce are unique in the UK and come from the traditional recipes of the Pantanal region of Brazil. 

Here, at the foot of the Andes, torrential rains flood the landscape in the wet season. Eventually, the water calms and gradually flows away and what is left behind is a rich ecosystem of shallow pools and dense, green vegetation.

This wet, fertile world of jaguars and anacondas is the only place the Pequi fruit grows, the key to our chili sauce’s unique flavor. It is a citrus fruit with green skin and a rich orange interior, like a vibrant, multi-stoned avocado.

This is what we have tried to capture with our sauces – the freshness and color that make Brazilian food so alive.
